The death of Hollywood
I remember hearing an article about why Hollywood movies aren't doing as well as they used to. Hollywood has had a couple ideas on what was the cause of the lost revenue. There bright ideas were that people were pirating movies, or that seeing a movie in a theater cost to much. Then someone bold and daring in the back of the room made a remark to the effect of, "Maybe the movies just suck". When it was all said and done they realized that the movies did suck, and the movies that didn't suck were the ones that did well.
What reminded me of this article was a movie review I heard while getting dressed this morning. The man giving the review was rating all the movies with two stars or less. The movies of today, he reviewed, aren't even hitting the half way point. They don't have interesting plots, lack a much needed character development, and produces have the funny idea that CGI can make up for everything the story lacks. Unless Hollywood realizes how stupid some of these movies are, we are going to have straight to video movies in no time.
