The current system of grading needs to change.

Why do we grade on points of facts instead of actual performance and ability to work. Grading off of facts is pointless. Many teachers have realized that knowing the facts behind something is testable, but it doesn't help in real world situations. On the other hand, knowing what to do with that information and how to use is what people goto school for. Your boss is never going to ask you to quote the definition of algebra, but he expects you to know how to use it. Memorizing the dictionary's pointless. Yes, people should learn facts, but we need to grade on how the knowledge is used. Knowledge is useless without the wisdom to use it.
