Where does our social and individual cultures come from? Have you ever thought about why we do still do certain activities, and if we do them we do them it's most likely a dead practical reasons. Most of the activities or ceremonies that we do today have a reason to why we do them. Either religious or for once practical purposes. Have you ever thought about why brides carry a bouquet of flowers, other than the fact that flowers look nice they have no real purpose in a wedding. They did though have a very real purpose. Before our modern society had some kind of idea of what hygiene was, people smelled. It was probably the bathing just once a year thing that caused this, but brides carried flowers because they smelled. Bride smells bad + Flowers smell good = No smell. We still have many wedding where brides carry flowers, and why do they carry them. They carry them because it has always been done. It's funny to me to find out we are doing something that was only a certain reason and now it's part of our culture. If we only understood why we do so many of the things we do we might not do them.
