99 billion burgers, and . . . . . what?

So you've sold 99 billion burgers, congratulations, and here's a slap on the back. It's nice to know that we base success on numbers. The bigger the better, right? If you've sold more it means that you're better than everyone else, or you have a lot of spare time counting sold burgers. I wonder if anyone ever thinks what 99 billion burgers mean. Lets break it down.

99 billion burgers means:

• 34 billion animals had to be killed to make those burgers.
• 17 billion people had a nice case of food poisoning.
• 6 billion people are now over weight.
• 12 billion toys just got thrown away out of a kids meal.
• 42 billion amounts of wasted food were thrown away.

But honestly, how can these burger figures be correct or even amount to something important. After all, we all must have eaten a lot of burgers if theres only 6 billion people in the world.
