The thing we are most afraid of . . . ourselves.

I saw the movie Dark Water last night. For as a scary movie goes it was alright. The plot was the same as other movies ment to scare. Objects appearing out of nowhere, long periods of silence and then a sudden jump, and intense periods not seeing much and not knowing what was going to happen. But what is it that really scares us. Those objects are only surprises, and not actual fear.

What scares us is the two major principles of fear. One the unknown, and the second of not being able to control our own fate. The unknown is what creeps into our minds as a slow moving creature coming to capture us in the dark, or the noises of people or beast around us as we are in a dark alley. Knowing what is going to happen eliminates the unknown, and this is why we never know what is happening in scary movies until the end. If the unknown was made know the movie would lose its first control of fear upon us. The second factor of fear is not being in control. Not being able to make our own decisions and control them. Through these two methods Hollywood feeds upon our own emotions and fears. We may say we'll never see another scary movie again, but it's things that happen on the inside of us that cause us to return.

Would you like fries with that?

Um yes, yes I would, and while you're at it why not biggie size it. Also I would like a small chocolate shake. A small please because I'm trying to watch my weight. Could I also get a fish sandwich on the side. Yes, fish please because it's fish, and it has less calories.

This isn't my daily routine, but very well could be. Food in and of itself has so many varieties and taste so good. Why can' t the greasy goodness of fries, and the sweet temptation of sugar be good for you. Sure if this was true broccoli would go on strike and have to form a union to force us to eat more broccoli, but its always the things that taste the best that are the worst for you (life's funny that way). You of course have alternatives that taste sweet and almost give you the same effect, but these are a little controversial and have supposed long term side effects, but doesn't everything. Well I say don't worry about it, eat it. Just make sure you get a small with that (because you're trying to watch your weight).

Let dreams guide your path

Why is it that sleep seems to be a lose lose situation. It's something that we all need, and yet it getting the right amount can be near impossible. It's almost as if its a battle. If you stay in bed to long you'll be tired. If you don't stay in bed long enough, well you lose there also. Then you have getting out of bed. Did you get out on the wrong side of the bed. What if your pillow was to hard, or to soft. Are you like the princess and you can feel the smallest pea under your bed.

At this point in time you have decided sleeps not for you and you might as well avoid it all together. Wrong again. Sleep will work on you until you crack. Its always there in the back of your mind pulling at your eyelids until it wins. There is only one thing you can do at this point in time and that is put up your white flag up and surrender, get under your covers and let dreams guide you to a better place. Have a great day, and hopefully a good night.
