Monopoly. Fun in games, not in life.
Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars, and watch gas prices cause you to do something to put you in jail. I don't know what you have heard recently, but as far as I know a monopoly is still illegal. I think it must be the definition that's throwing the government off. Instead of one individual controlling all the market, it's a community of businesses that raise the price of gas together. For one reason or another something or someone is causing the price of fuel to do anything but go down. The problem is that fossil fuels are so incorporated into our lives that the price can go up and we still have to pay it. The demand and the supply is there, but why supply something at a reasonable price when you can sell it for three times its price. I'm about tired of this game, and seriously doubt if I will ever play monopoly again.

The death of Hollywood
What reminded me of this article was a movie review I heard while getting dressed this morning. The man giving the review was rating all the movies with two stars or less. The movies of today, he reviewed, aren't even hitting the half way point. They don't have interesting plots, lack a much needed character development, and produces have the funny idea that CGI can make up for everything the story lacks. Unless Hollywood realizes how stupid some of these movies are, we are going to have straight to video movies in no time.

The price of a soul
The price of a soul used to cost quite a bit. It used to be that you would only sell your soul for something great. Something great as in a country, power, or riches. Well if your in the market today you can get a deal. Prices are always falling, and if you're lucky you can get one for as little as a buck.At work yesterday I was talking to a customer about current specials we had. I told him that there was no installation fee, that the price was good for a year, and overall it would be a good deal for him. What he wanted to do was cancel his current offer because it didn't have a special and get the new special. I connected him to a special dept that dealt with disconnects. After I transfered the customer the representative on the line went and told the customer opposite of what I had just explained. She told him there was an activation fee, that there wasn't a special he could get for the year, and that he would be better off keeping what he currently had. Everything she told him was a lie. She had sold her soul, and for what, an extra buck on her check.
It disappoints me that people will trade their integrity, honestly, and trust for a quick fix. Has it come to the point where a soul and the substance it is made of is worth nothing more that a few bucks and some change. I hope not.

LOL
We have the feeling describing ones: lol, lmao, su. There are the congratulations and comments: nt, ty, y. Finally you have situational descriptions: brb, ttyl, cu, ok, sol, sos.
Is language only as important as the meaning we convey, or are we to lazy to care if we show the entire picture as long as the meaning is understood. I don't know. It depends on what we believe is appropriate at the time. Is it generally laziness, or just practicality.
